Pranic Healing is done by channelling the life force or Prana described above. Self pranic healing and balance is done by ‘breath of life’ or Pranayama. Although Pranic Healing has been rediscovered by a modern father, however, it has existed and practised by sages and yogis in India for many thousands of years.
Modern definition of Pranic healing is according to pranichealing.com, “Pranic Healing® is a highly developed and tested system of energy energy medicine that utilizes prana to balance, harmonize and transform the body’s energy processes. Prana is a Sanskrit word that means life-force. This invisible bio-energy or vital energy keeps the body alive and maintains a state of good health. In acupuncture, the Chinese refer to this subtle energy as Chi. It is also called Ruah or the Breath of Life in the Old Testament.”
It is said that Jesus Christ learnt the art of pranic healing in India, where he spent many years. There is evidence of this found in a Buddist Monastery and its thousand year old scripture.
Prana also is known by different names such as ch’I in Chinese medicine and ki in Japanese medicine; the Japanese call healing by touch “giving seiki.”
The individual receives prana from the food eaten, water drank, and air breathed. All force or energy received comes from one primal source, and everyone can increase their supply and give it as a “gift” to others through healing. By the act of living each receives this gift and therefore can freely share it with others.
The amount of prana which everyone possesses can be increased through visualization. For example, when one takes a deep breath one can visualize the prana, or vital force, coming into his body, circulating through it, and penetrating every part of it. One can visualize this prana, as the Divine Presence (Paramatma) within our heart.
In order to understand Pranic healing, we must first understand, three things:
1. Prana
2. Pranayama
3. Chakra
4. Aura or Subtle Body
